We've had a busy time here lately, and the first thing to get cut for time was my sleep schedule. After that came this.
So we might start hoarfing out some more reviews rather quickly in the next few days. Unless I come up with something better to do, like discovering something that doesn't exist, or giving a mokey a shower.
Sleeping Beauty, the review.
C: It was pretty silly how the fairy people kept making everything turn different colours. (Caleb talks like a proper Brit in my head. Sometimes) And they made a cake that just kept falling down, and that was funny.
D: Was that all?
C: No! Then the girl hurt her finger and had to be sent to bed to feel better. Then Maleficent put the man in the dungeon.
D: Oh no!
C: But she wasn't being mean, daddy, she just wanted some peace and quiet so she could get some sleep. (Upon throwing the prince in the dungeon, Maleficent says "Finally I can get a good night's sleep for the first time in 16 years.")
D: Well, that makes sense, I guess.
C: And then she turned into a dragon!
D: Dude, a dragon?
C: Yes, a giant dragon that can breathe fire on everyone and cook them for dinner.
D: Whoa.
C: Then the prince threw his sword at the dragon and made it dead.
D: Then what happened?
C: I don't know.
D: Why not?
C: Well, once dragon-Maleficent was gone I turned it off because it wouldn't be cool anymore.....
D: I couldn't agree more, my man.

Little Mermaid, the review
So, this afternoon we watched The Little Mermaid. I'm sure pretty much everyone knows the movie, and you don't need a plot recap or any of that professional review nonsense.
Overview of the movie:
Caleb had moments of hyper attention and lots of moments where his Hot Wheels cars were WAY more interesting to him. He didn't ask me to turn it off, so that's a plus for the movie.
Caleb's review-
C: I really liked how Ursula kept trying to trick people. Then she turned into a person and tried to get the Little Mermaid from getting her voice back. Then she turned into a giant and the guy crashed her with a boat.
D: Dude, did you like any of the other parts, like the music, or how they got married at the end?
C: Not really, it was kind of boring when they were just singing.
Dad's review-
It was sad, I cried.

A fine beginning
So here's the thing. People are always saying that kids say the darndest things. Heck, there was even a dreadful show about it. But part of that is that kids don't have a filter. They speak their mind, and have no concept of consequence, which is something I think we could all embrace a bit.
My plan with this bit of nonsense, because really, that's what it is...
Caleb and I will watch movies, and TV, listen to music, and read books. Just like normal. But now, I will take note of his opinions, and compare then to mine.
I'm sure it will be pretty much read only by my mum. But I think that's something that comes in the new baby packet "You must pretend to think what your kids do is really important!" Case and point, me doing this, and her being the only visitor.
Anyhow.
We are currently watching The Little Mermaid. Review to follow.
